  Christians Under Attack

By Michael Collins Piper
2003

So-called "leaders" of the Christian evangelical movement have agreed to give up spreading the Gospel of Christ in the Holy Land in order to avoid being jailed under a proposed Israeli law aimed at stamping out Christian missionary work in Israel.

Anti-Christian forces led by a wide-ranging group of high-ranking Israeli officials won a major victory on March 30. Representatives of 50 different international Christian evangelical groups entered into what was described as an "unprecedented" joint statement promising not to carry out Christian missionary work in Israel.

In return, Israeli lawmaker Nissim Zvili said that he would drop his sponsorship of a proposed measure before the Israeli parliament (widely supported among various political factions in Israel) that would outlaw any effort to teach or propagate Christian doctrine in Israel. Under Zvili's highly popular proposal, any Christian missionary found guilty of violating the law would be sent to prison for one year. Zvili hailed the Christian surrender, saying: "This is better than a law. This is a very big accomplishment."

The Christian groups that surrendered to Israeli pressure, and thereby abandoned their long-standing practice of proselytizing the Christian faith, issued a statement saying that they rejoice in the presence of the Jewish people in this country of their ancestors and agreed to avoid activities which alienate Jews in Israel from their tradition and community.

In response to the surrender by the Christian groups in the face of the anti-Christian legislation, one American Christian evangelist, Rev. Dale Crowley Jr., expressed great shock and dismay. Crowley said that those groups that endorsed the agreement have, in Crowley's direct terms, "Betrayed our Lord." Crowley says that purveying the Gospel of Christ to nonbelievers is integral to the Christian faith and stems from the biblical great commission directing Christians to share their faith.

Crowley notes that two newspapers with prominent circulation in the pro-Israel community, Washington Jewish Week and the New York City-based Forward, have "quite notably", in his words, not reported on this Israeli victory over Christian evangelism. Crowley said that he has been prodding Washington Jewish Week to publish the story but that, thus far, the influential publication has not done so.

"The Israelis want to keep this information under wraps," Crowley said, "and the Christian groups that entered into this outrageous betrayal of their faith are ashamed of themselves, as they certainly should be."

According to Crowley, the complete joint statement issued by the Christian groups has been virtually impossible to obtain, despite the fact that some 50 different groups have affixed their names to the statement. Also, says Crowley, the actual names of the 50 different groups that are signatories to the agreement are also out of reach. When the names of those groups are finally made public, says Crowley, Christians should cease supporting those groups since they have effectively betrayed their Biblical commission to spread the gospel by abandoning their missionary work in the land where Christ lived and carried out his work.

VERY REAL PROBLEMS

At the time the anti-Christian bill was first introduced in the Israeli parliament, even Rev. David Allen Lewis, president of the pro-Israel group, Christians United for Israel, admitted that there were some very real problems with the legislation. "This bill means great hardship for Zionist

evangelicals like myself," said Lewis, who worried that the action would revive the argument of those who question Christian support for Israel, saying, "How can you support the Jewish nation when they are against Christianity?"

When I contacted the offices of Christian evangelists Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson, both of whom are loud advocates of pro-Israel policy (despite the anti-Christian stance of the Israeli leadership), neither would comment on the anti-Christian legislation. Sen. Jesse Helms (R-N.C.) another vocal supporter of Israel (and ally of the so-called "Christian Right" in the United States), likewise refused to provide me any comment on the anti-Christian offensive in Israel.

Although Israel today is torn asunder by vast feuding among various political and religious factions even within the Jewish community as a whole, the anti-Christian proposal by Israeli lawmaker Zvili had wide-ranging support throughout the Israeli population.

ARCHITECT NAMED

Longtime Republican Party and conservative movement leader John Lofton, previously a pro-Israel zealot but now an unabashed Christian who is not afraid to criticize Israeli excesses, has been watching the anti-Christian offensive in Israel.

Lofton recently reported in his Lofton Report that Clarence Wagner, director of the evangelical foundation Bridges for Peace, was the architect of this agreement, which, in Lofton's words, "denies our Lord." Lofton says that "Wagner and his cowardly crew have chosen to obey men rather than God" and that "they have chosen to be ashamed of the Gospel even though," says Lofton, quoting Romans 1:16,  "it is the power or God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek."

John Alpher of the American Jewish Committee's Israel/Middle East Office has hailed the sell-out as "a dynamic Christian commitment to the vitality of Israel and Judaism." His colleague, Rabbi A. James Rudin, the AJC's "director of interreligious affairs," said that the agreement is "a strong refutation of those Christians who sadly still target Jews as possible converts to Christianity." Rudin says that he hopes the statement will be "a model for others to emulate throughout the world."

NOT PREACH?

Lofton had strong words in response to the AJC's comments: "For openers, no Christian would ever agree not to preach the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Secondly, apart from Christ, there is no "vitality" for anybody, including Israel and Judaism. As for those Christians who "sadly" target Jews for conversion to Christianity, well, the Lord Himself was one of those  "Christians."  Lofton concluded: "God forbid that this Christ-hating agreement should ever be emulated, or become a model, for anybody."

Virtually the only national news publication in America to report on the Israeli war on Christianity was us on March 17, 1997. We published a special eight-page report entitled Israel Declares War on Christianity and told the story of the anti-Christian legislation. The special report featured a ground-breaking essay by the aforementioned Christian evangelist, Dale Crowley, Jr., in which Crowley refuted the popular political theory that the  present day geographic entity known as Israel is not the "Israel" that is referred to in the Bible.

Another essay by Crowley, appearing in the same report, concluded that America's heritage is, in fact, based on Christian teachings and that the term "Judeo-Christian" has no rational or actual applicability to the reality of American history or tradition.

I think these people who came into this agreement stoppoing Chrisitans from preaching the gospel is ludicrious. Bunch of cowards. Well maybe it is just the Lords way of seprating the sheep from the goats. In any event my goal is to spread the gospel around the world, the most accurate view of the gospel, Preterism. I believe that we still have antichristian setiment today mainly because the modern Christian viewpoint of Eschatology is wrong.   There is order here and God has visited our Church many times.  One of my goals is to buy as many radio stations as possible and spread the news from a preterist view. It is a sad day when people calling themselves Christians would deny thier very identity and role as witnesses for Christ. Jesus is himself the Jewish Messiah and the only true "Hope of Israel." whether Jew or Gentile, the bottom line is this: "Repent and belive in the Son of David, Jesus the Messiah, or DIE IN YOUR SINS." These people who call themselves christians are a shame and a disgrace.

Shalom from Jerusalem. Clarence Wagner was not quoted correctly. He did not say Christians would not evangelize. He said Christians would follow the laws of Israel, and that we would not use coercive methods to win converts, but that we would be faithful witnesses to the gospel commission. www.jewsforjesus.org www.truthtellers.org Teaches many Jews what they were not told when they where young, Right out of the Judaica Encyclopedia and TALMUD. Jews profess, todays modern Jew is a product of the TALMUD. What's in the TALMUD is the next question. P.S. Instructions to kill a Gentile for looking into this are also in that book. That's not Nice... I was astonshed to learn many of my Jewish freinds are force to not accept Christ. A girlfriend of mine is always saddened when visiting her parents. Why? They Harass her With Anti-Christian Remarks like: are you still into that Jesus stuff?... She hears this when she visits them which is becoming less. She told me with tears in her eyes and heart, she felt the spirit of Jesus when she asked for him! comfort and enlighten. "Knock and the door will be openned unto you." Why do Jews hate Jews who found the truth in Jesus? Probably the answer lies in that deprived Rabbi oral teachings of the babolonian Talmud. Now there you will find the root of the majority of todays source of problems we endure. The source is from the Talmud. Racism to the bone if you a Gentile, especially a Christian Gentile. The High Jewish religious and public figures should be denouncing with extreme predudice- those oral DIVERSIONS from the Torah. When Jews will Dump those left field teachings in the TALMUD. The world will start to heal. Not untill then I think. I say this with love. For 25 years I did not speak on this topic but logic requires a decision from the pool of facts eventually. The problems of the past, Jews and others endure to this day, I feel are FROM the TALMUD, and Zohar and their quest for global control to please the messiah, who "already came for them" "and us alike." "JESUS" But they say he will not return until then! Pretty foolish. Israels pains of today come because Christ is not allowed in there hearts by their own pact. Preventing the blessing and harmoney Jesus wants for us all. I have read like beliefs from many Jews who have openned their eyes. Christian or not. ISAIAH 53 and others. Let the Jew READ without the misguided teachings forced upon them and enforced on them by their elders. Let Jesus into your heart. No wonder so many are confused as children. Repeatedly told: We are Jews; we don't believe in Jesus, they are drilled not to forget... How cruel. They should not think for their children which causes them so much pain as the girlfriend I spoke about.

for the Gaza Peace Centre. Update, 22nd December 2003. To all sponsors and supporters of the Bustan Al-Salam Peace Centre in Gaza, First of all, thank you for supporting our fundraising exercise- the sponsored walk along the Camino de Santiago. Since everyone honoured their pledges made before the walk, we have been able to collect in £ 4318.07 to date. Two people have also offered to fund the project long-term, if need be. This has relieved pressure for those that have been involved with the setting-up of the Peace Centre, as now the rent of the building can be paid, a sum of $ 2000. The remaining funds will go towards the setting-up of a project to link up Palestinian and Israeli children via the internet. Thank you all very much. Our plan was to head out to Israel, Gaza and the West Bank this Christmas and set up this project, filming the Peace Centre and the activities therein. Our small group of volunteers from Oxford were to meet up in Jerusalem and Gaza. However, our plans have had to change somewhat : On 16th December, a friend and I flew to Ben Gurion airport with the hope of meeting another member of our group in Jerusalem, so that we might travel to Gaza together and meet another friend from Oxford, and all the representative members of the Peace Centre. We decided to travel through the airport separately, as we had heard that some peace-activists are not allowed into Israel, especially if they have been before, and the people they are travelling with may also be refused entry into the country. As it happened, this was a good decision. As soon as I had presented my passport to the control counter, I was approached by three security personnel. I was led off to a room where all my bags were searched 'with a fine tooth-comb' and I waited to be interrogated. Sporadically, over the next three hours I was questioned by three pairs of security personnel asking the same questions : what was I going to do in Israel, did I know any Palestinians, what did I do in England, what other countries had I visited etc. etc. etc. Finally, after about five hours (we had arrived at 5.30 a.m. and it was now 10.30 a.m.), I was escorted into the office of the Israeli Defence Department, where three people were to question me : had I been to Israel before, what was I planning on doing there, did I know any Palestinians…then the questioning became more personal : what work did I do in England, how did I finance my travels, what was the address and telephone number I stayed at, what was the telephone number etc. All this was written down and then I was led away, back to the first room of searches. Ten minutes later, tags were put on my bag, signifying another flight being imminent, and I was escorted off to the Immigration Police building, a minute's ride from the arrival terminal. On the way the policeman informed me I was being denied entry into Israel 'for security reasons' and that I would be put on the next flight back to England. At the Immigration Detention Centre, there were many cells, with five people in each. The cells consisted of four beds a toilet and a shower. They were cramped for five people. As it happened, it turned out I was lucky because I only had to wait seven hours to the next flight back to England. Another man who was Palestinian, had to wait four days while his family were appealing to the courts. He had flown from the United States to see his ageing mother and father for Christmas, but was denied entry 'for security reasons', as I was. It turned out that the other three people in the cell were also being put on planes back to their place of departure for 'security reasons.' This is the only explanation anyone got. One of the inmates was an American visiting his Palestinian family for the first time in many years. The other chap was Turkish, having married a Palestinian woman, and although he had a visa, was denied entry to visit her and her family. As a result of this experience, it is hard to see how, by denying us entry, the situation in Israel is being made more secure, or less insecure. I think the overall feeling was one of disappointment, anger and frustration at our unfair treatment. It was a blatant injustice to deny people the right to visit their families. I feel that separating families like this causes more embitterment towards the Israeli authorities, and isolates those Palestinian family members who are unable to be visited by relatives. It also deters Palestinians from travelling as they may not be allowed back into Israel, the West Bank and Gaza, thus being separated from their families indefinitely. This is essentially disruptive to Palestinian society and oppressive. As we can see, these security measures have not stopped suicide bombing, and it could be argued, are infact contributory to the conditions that cause people to take their own life and others. As far as the Peace Centre project goes, my two friends did manage to enter Israel and are currently exploring possible ways of entering Gaza. One other member of our group was also not allowed into Israel 'for security reasons', and indeed the permits we applied for to enter Gaza were denied. However, we have managed to bring in the video camera to film the projects in the Peace Centre in Gaza, and if no-one is allowed in over Christmas, then the Director of the Peace Centre will visit Jerusalem in the New Year, and will film the projects, sending us the tapes to edit later. That will be towards the end of January. In the meantime, we are setting up a bank account in Gaza to receive the funds raised at this end. Due to the fact that we have found longer-term funding, we aim to write project proposals and budgets for the activities at the Peace Centre and try and get them up-and-running this coming year. Some friends in Manchester have expressed an interest in organising a summercamp in Britain for Palestinian and Israeli children. This is another project being worked on this next year. So, thank you all very much once again for all your support, and I hope to be able to bring you some good news in the next progress report. Look people, Israel is not a friend of our nation, but both of us live in the same world. we both in many ways are in the same boat! but the Great Gospel of our christian world cannot be killed,God knows what we are all-about, our God can see us all and the evil and good we all do! Israel has attacked our ships at sea! the jewish people do not love our nation, but what happened 60 years ago must not be just toss away in history. the movie "THE PASSION" is a truth of what happened to our Christ, and that evil is our evil! and God knows that all to well, No one can stop the work and the word of God. But remember one thing, it is all about our one God, and his Great love of all the people of this little earth.

One of the ways that I can help is to collect the facts and pull together a summary of what is going on and to present it to the Body of Christ. You know, I have heard for years that the Church did nothing about the slaughter of the Jews in World War II because they thought Hitler was the anti-Christ and they were hesitant to resist his actions because they thought it was all a part of the end-times prophecies. It appears that the Church and our nation are once again turning a deaf ear to this current situation because they believe that the Jewish/Paelstinian conflict is a part of end-time prophecy and that it must be allowed to run its course. They also believe that they must stand with Israel - regardless - if they don't, they will come under a curse from God! I am writing several key leaders with this information and I am asking them for their insights into the situation. Let's pray that God will somehow use us to expose this mess and to bring restoration into the picture. The problem is further complicated with the fact that neither side believes in Jesus - neither the Jews nor the Palestinians. Of course, we know that this conlfict will only be settled in the Person of Jesus Himself. And this is the key reason that Ali and others who know Jesus are in a very strategic position to effect lasting change. By the end of the Holocaust, the world said "Never again!" Today the world watches as Palestinians are humiliated, despised, projected as unworthy of respect, dignity or legal protection and face state terrorism. Again? Christians can stop israeli massacres CHRISTIAN RACISM KILLS PALESTINIA... Zionism is a theory of ethnic cleansing and racism By Na'eem Jeenah, The Mail&Guardian, 20 August 2001 Zionism is not merely the statement of nationalism but, in its conception and execution, a form of western colonialism that views Palestinians as an inferior people and treats them as disposable Apartheid South Africa and Israel caused the main discussions in the previous two world anti-racism conferences - 1978 and 1983. South Africa has since been liberated and anti-racism activists around the world are demanding Israel be discussed at the Durban anti-racism conference. Why this clamour from activists, scholars and international civil society? Because Zionism is racism and Israel - Zionism in practice - is an apartheid state. "There is no such thing as a Palestinian people." - Golda Meir. "There is no other way than to transfer the Arabs from here to neighbouring countries ... all of them; not one village, not one tribe, should be left." - Joseph Weitz, 1967. "The only good Arab is a dead Arab When we have settled the land, all the Arabs will be able to do about it will be to scurry around like drugged cockroaches." - Rafael Eitan, Likud, 1981. "It is forbidden to be merciful to them ... Evil ones, damnable ones. May the Holy Name visit retribution on the Arabs' heads, and cause their seed to be lost, and annihilate them ..." - Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, Shas, 2001. Israeli Minister of the Interior Eli Yesha's response to Yosef: "They reflected the overall state of thinking of the Israeli Jewish society." Clearly, Zionism is a theory of ethnic cleansing and racism. It's not just Jewish nationalism as often argued. It was created as political nationalism in the heart of Europe to grab land belonging to people far away. And it carried the European ideological view of non-Europeans as insignificant. On the basis of this view, apartheid Israel developed an elaborate system of discriminatory policies and laws to subjugate the natives. One of the world's most discriminatory practices is Israel's policy of "redeeming" the land by placing ownership exclusively in Jewish hands. Israel Shahak wrote: "The land which has been redeemed is the land which has passed from non-Jewish to Jewish ownership ... The land which belongs to non-Jews is, on the contrary, considered to be unredeemed." The notion that land possessed by the other remains "unredeemed" is the worst kind of national chauvinism. Racism? Israel's Law of Return is another racist law. By it the state must accommodate any Jews from anywhere in the world that might, at any time, migrate to Israel. If four-million Jews suddenly emigrate to Israel/Palestine, the Israeli government will accommodate them. In contrast, four-million Palestinians that were dispossessed of their land and forced into exile when Israel was formed have no right of return because - in Ehud Barak's words - it would be "national suicide". National suicide when the returnees are Palestinians wanting to return to the land of their birth but not when the immigrants are foreign Jews? Racism? (How foreigners to a land can "return" to it is itself amazing.) How many nations in the world today openly boast of segregation? A Barak campaign billboard in 1999 proclaimed: "Peace Through Separation: Us Here Them Over There." Racism? Israeli apologists make much of "Israeli Arabs" (Palestinians within the 1948 borders) being "allowed" to vote. Yet they exist as third-class Israeli citizens. They are discriminated against for housing, education, social services, welfare benefits and employment. Electricity, sewerage, roads and water are provided free to Israeli households while many Palestinian communities in Israel still do not have adequate services. But this cannot compare to the discrimination in West Bank and Gaza. Sixty percent of West Bank land is "owned" by Israelis in settlements regarded as illegal by international law. In Gaza 6 000 settlers own 42 % of the land. An Israeli settler in Gaza consumes 2 000m3 of water while a Palestinian is allowed only 120m3! Racism? Israeli inhabitants are required to carry identity cards. Shahak says these can list the official nationality of a person - Jewish, Arab, Druze ... - but not Israeli. When left-wing Israelis applied for identity cards identifying them as Israeli or Israeli-Jew, the Interior Ministry rejected their requests. A "democracy" that requires citizens' identity cards stipulating ethno-religious identity without mentioning nationality? Racism? "I believe Zionism is racism," said Rabee' Sahyoun, "because I am a Palestinian, and without recognising the colonialist component in Zionism, I cannot explain its racist character, a Western movement uprooting the native peoples of Palestine: Muslim, Christian, Jew, Samaritan alike ... I believe Zionism is racism because it fails to admit that the minority indigenous Jewish community in Palestine that lived there for the past 2 000 years was an indistinguishable people from its Christian and Muslim Palestinian brethren, and that the leader of the Jewish community of the Jewish quarter of Old Jerusalem, Rabbi Lamram Blau, stood on the side of his Palestinian brothers and sisters being exiled in 1948." Six decades ago the world watched as Jews were humiliated, despised, projected as unworthy of respect, dignity or legal protection and faced state terrorism. By the end of the Holocaust, the world said "Never again!" Today the world watches as Palestinians are humiliated, despised, projected as unworthy of respect, dignity or legal protection and face state terrorism. Again?  Dear Martha: I am particularly interested in the materials that have to do with the role of dispensationalism (end-time belief) in the conflict in Palestine. Our prayers, tears. and deep concerns go up before the Lord continually regarding this entire situation and the safety of Ali and the other men and women of God in that area of the world. "Lord, give us wisdom - for we have never been this way before!" Martha, the recent article you forwarded to me is great. As you find further information along that line, please send it to me. Blessings,Apostle Jerry Six decades ago the world watched as Jews were humiliated, despised, projected as unworthy of respect, dignity or legal protection and faced state terrorism. Thousands of Christians Come to Zion Shalom and Blessings my Brothers and Sisters in Yeshua, Christian Embassy Hosts 4,000 Visitors at 25th Anniversary Feast Gathering 03:00 Sep 27, '04 / 12 Tishrei 5765 (IsraelNN.com) Despite four years of political unrest, travel advisories and a prolonged slump in tourism to Israel, over 4,000 Christians from more than 80 nations will arrive in Jerusalem over the next week to take part in the 25th 'Silver Anniversary' Christian celebration of the Feast of Tabernacles, sponsored by the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem. They will pump at least $10 million into the local economy, accounting for over 15,000 hotel room nights, a boost for the Jerusalem tourism industry. The international visitors will be joined by over 1,000 local Christians to celebrate the biblical Feast of Sukkot and to stand with the nation of Israel. An additional 2,000 Israelis are also expected to attend various Feast events. Evangelical Christian leaders, including Dr. Pat Robertson, (Host of the '700 Club' TV program and former chairman of the Christian Coalition in the US) and Brother Yun, a prominent leader of the 100-million member underground Christian church in China, will also take part in this year's celebration to mark the milestone anniversary. The ICEJ is also hosting a first-time-ever event in the Beit Shean National Park, where the 4000 visitors will enjoy a spectacular, spiritual concert and fireworks in the ancient Roman Amphitheater on Tuesday, September 28. For the fourth year in a row, since the outbreak of the Oslo War, the Christian Embassy is hosting the largest international solidarity mission to Israel, as Christians from nations across the world come in person to express their firm commitment to the Jewish State and its people. The Ministry of Tourism in fact calls the ICEJ Feast 'the largest annual tourism event in Israel.' "This 25th anniversary marks a special plateau for this event and our ministry," says Malcolm Hedding, ICEJ Executive Director. "The thousands of Christians ascending to Jerusalem for our annual Feast celebration know that something wonderful is in store for them this year, as they worship the God of Israel and bless the people of Israel. "Rice is also seemingly oblivious to the truth that there is a US religious extremism that is very threatening to the Muslim world, and so this is perhaps where the dialogue, if there is to be one, should begin." Apparently to US National Security Advisor Condoleeza Rice, Ariel Sharon’s spokesperson in the Bush administration, a Muslim moderate is the opposite of what she calls, "Islamic extremists." She is obviously non-receptive to the view of most Muslims that there is no Islamic or Muslim extremism that is threatening the United States. Fundamental interpretation of the Qur’an is not threatening the United States, and is not terrorism. Those supposed al-Qadea imposters who attacked the United States were not Muslims, and their claim to be Muslim is believed only by those who are seeking a pretense upon which to mount an assault on Islam. Even the ideas conveyed by supposed Al-Qadea operatives are not derived from the Qur’an, but rather are based upon excerpts taken out of context and used to advance ideas that are foreign to Islam, and rejected by most, if not all Muslims. They could do the same with any religious text, or idea. To imagine that such gratuitous an! d obvious exploitation would become the pretext for a multi-billion dollar international war against the legitimate religion of more than a billion people is preposterous. Rice is also seemingly oblivious to the truth that there is a US religious extremism that is very threatening to the Muslim world, and so this is perhaps where the dialogue, if there is to be one, should begin. Ms. Rice should have perhaps begun her appeal by explaining to us why it is acceptable for Christian and Jewish religious extremists in our government, to wage a war against Islam under the guise of fighting terrorism? She might also explain to us why US taxpayer money is being used to establish a Jewish only state in Israel that persecutes Christians and Muslims, and violates their human and religious rights as a matter of public policy? Increasingly, Americans, including Muslims, are wondering why US taxpayer money can be used to establish a religious and non-democratic Jewish state that by its very definition is opposed to the free exercise of religion by non-Jewish people. This is especially strange when we consider that our US Constitution prohibits the establishment of national ideologies, or national religion here in the US, even with our own tax dollars. At issue in any dialogue that might ensue between Ms. Rice’s constituency, who are religious extremists, and the people of the Muslim world, is Christian and Jewish fundamentalism and religious extremism. The potential impact of religious extremism in the US or Israel, upon the people of the rest of the non-Christian and non-Jewish world must be addressed. Is Christian and Jewish religious extremism any less offensive or threatening to the world than what she calls, "Islamic extremism"? Strange indeed that the US can claim to be embroiled in an ideological battle with Islamic extremists when the US is prohibited from professing a national ideology. Claiming that the United States is a nation founded upon Judeo-Christian values is the way Christian and Jewish religious extremists in the United States are attempting to in fact establish a religious government here. These people ignore completely the Mayflower pact, and the US Constitution, and also our founder’s insistence that we not claim to be a religious nation, but rather we profess to be a nation that recognizes that there is a God. We are a nation where people have a right to freely worship God as they see fit, so long as their worship does not compromise the freedom of others to also worship God, as they believe He should be worshipped. This is true for people throughout the world. The US constitution implies recognition of the inalienable right of every human being to pursue happines! s. This must include the right to believe in and worship the God of their choice, as they choose, and even not to believe in God, or worship Him at all, if that is what they choose. Christian and Jewish religious zealots in the United States hope to use our tax dollars to establish their ideological dominance over other Americans, and also the rest of the world. Their extreme, and wrong interpretation of the Bible, is the basis of the ideology from which they extract their premise for an international war against Islam now, and later any religion, or ideal that does not suit their idea of an acceptable belief. The teachings of Jesus are foreign to these zealots, who have embraced now discredited understandings of the Old Testament with new fervor. They have turned their backs to the New Testament emphasis on a universal God of all men, and peace, mercy and compassion between believers and non- believers. This is a revival of the Christianity that justified the slavery of Blacks, native Americans and Latinos, based upon Old Testament teachings referring to Noah’s supposed curse of his son Canaan, saying "Cursed be Canaan," (Gen. 9:25.) A! s a result of this supposed Old Testament insistence that all Cushites (Africans and non-whites), the descendants of Ham, were cursed to be the slaves of Noah’s other children, non Caucasian people throughout the world were considered savages and heathens, and people without souls. Accordingly, neither the Church of England, nor the Old Catholic Church recognized any moral obligation to uphold the human rights of non-whites, unless they accepted to be "saved" by entering the Church, and coming under the authority of either the Queen of England, or the Pope. This is the same strain of Christianity that fueled the Spanish inquisition, and the colonialism, and many of the wars of the 20th century, and also the historic slave trade. Ms. Rice has obviously forgotten the Christianity of the hooded Knights who rode through the old south lynching and killing Blacks, claiming as justification the same Old Testament interpretations that she and her colleagues now use to condemn Islam. Condoleeza Rice and her male counter part, and colleague, Black syndicated columnist Armstrong Williams, denigrate Islam. Williams wrote on his website "A Muslim anywhere is a threat to Jews everywhere," and admitted that his good friend Ariel Sharon had taught him this idea, a bigoted idea that Williams obviously saw fit to not only adopt, but also to advocate. It is strange indeed that the United States Institute for Peace, a taxpayer funded institute that supposedly pursues international peace by mandate from the American people was the staging ground for Rice’s bigoted retort to the Muslim world. Considering that she is not an elected official, the people of the Muslim world should look upon her ranting as just another example of the many challenges that currently face our nation, and the world. A challenge that will only be overcome once people like Rice understand that we all enjoy equal and inalienable religious rights, that are not subject to, or dependant upon either she or Ariel Sharon for acceptance, or sanction. Rice’s call for dialogue with the Muslim world appears as phony as her claim that the US should be at war with Islamic "extremism." By couching her appeal in the language of Christian and Jewish extremism, she made it very clear that no real dialogue is either desired or actually intended, and also that she is very capable of making sure that one never happens. Source: "Sherry's War" - How Judeo-Christians mix and match scripture verses and use of Are Christians supposed to decide who lives and who dies in the Middle East? The Cause of the Conflict. Fixing Blame By C. E. Carlson The terrible war between Israel and Palestine that erupted in a second uprising of the prisoners (Intifada II) 20 months ago has claimed over 2,000 Palestinian lives and almost 600 Israelis. It is time to name and condemn the responsible parties. Only then can the killing stop. This will be the least complicated of this 9-or 10-chapter series entitled "Inside the Gaza Strip." The final chapter will be completed next week. Naming the guilty parties is easy because they have come forward publicly to name themselves. The guilty are neither the Palestinian nor the Israeli people. At the root of the problem is a race-hate cult that has emerged under American Zionist leadership. Without this unholy alliance there would have been no uprisings, because the West Bank and Gaza would not have become occupied territories. Ralph Reed, Chairman of the Georgia Republican Party and former executive director of Pat Robertson's Christian Coalition, and Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein, founder of the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, have become co-chairmen of a new anti-Islamic hate group called the "Stand For Israel" campaign." Southern Baptists Jerry Falwell and Oliver North, and many others have expressed support for the campaign's goal of recruiting 100,000 churches and a million Christians to "support Israel". Rabbi Eckstein describes "Stand for Israel" as the "the Christian AIPAC" (American Israeli Political Affairs Committee). Please see our report on an AIPAC meeting held on May 13,2002. At that meeting the National Anthem of Israel was sung, but not the Star Spangled Banner (http://www.whtt.org/articles/020513.htm Note that AIPAC is called "American," but it is controlled by Israel. "Stand for Israel" will also be controlled by Israel. The "Stand For Israel" campaign is a hate group pitting Christians against Muslims and led by Israeli Patriots. The Southern Baptist Convention is for Israel and against Islam. Our source is the Christian leaders' own words. Let us quote some of its founders and most powerful supporters: According to a report by Adella M. Banks of the Religious News Service, the new SBC president, Reverend Jack Graham, pastor of Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, Texas, joined other leaders of his denomination in publicly denouncing Islam's venerated prophet Mohammed as a "demon-possessed pedophile." This could be likened to calling the pope a pervert--a highly unusual act by a dignified church leadership committed to Christ's commandment to "love your brother" and even "your enemy." Here is the text of the statement by Jerry Vines, outgoing president of the SBC: "ISLAM IS FOUNDED BY MOHAMMED, A DEMON-POSSESSED PEDOPHILE WHO HAD 12 WIVES, AND HIS LAST ONE WAS A NINE-YEAR OLD GIRL." (emphasis added) So said Reverend Vines. After his June 11 election, Dr. Graham said he believes successor's statement is "accurate." Mr. Graham did not make it clear why having a harem, one wife being a child, is proof of either pedophilia or demon-possession in the 9th century. Baptists also read the Book of Genesis as if it was written today, as we will see. Perhaps Dr. Graham is judging the Islamist prophet's marriage and sexual practices by his own congregation in Dallas, Texas, in the 21st century. It is noted that the word "pedophile" is big in religious news right now--a handy word to toss around a Baptist convention because everyone has learned what it means. But name calling and character slurs is mild when compared two what others in the Baptist bureaucracy want to say Richard L. Land, a Harvard-educated spokesman for the SBC, obviously thinks Southern Baptist ethics do not preclude slandering another religion, if that religion is an enemy of Israel. What has Dr. Land said about the ethics of Catholic leaders on the subject of pedophilia? Very little, judging from the SBC website. Dr. Land saves his attacks for enemies of Israel--the hapless Palestinians, some of whom are Baptists, too, and among whom crimes like this are virtually unheard of. In its condemnation of Mohammed, the Southern Baptist leadership did not mention the well-known rules for pederasty set out in Israel's state religion, Judaism, in the 5th century Talmud, gross and ugly as they are (Sanhedrin 55b-55a). Rabbi Eckstein could no doubt enlighten Mr. Land about what the Talmud says. Outgoing President Vine expressed what must be taken as the official Southern Baptist view. His choice of words, "pedophile" and "demonic," is slanderous and seems designed to deliberately provoke anger among Muslims. Reverend Graham affirmed Vine's comment, but later soft-pedaled by stating "we realize there are differences in religions but every person has the right to worship in adherence to the confines and dictates of his heart." Obviously Dr. Graham cannot believe both of his statements. Hatred of Islam is Baptist policy, and it leads not to a call for political action, but to war on Islam. The SBC's own leadership explains the heretical use of scripture that demands it go to war against Islam on the side of Rabbi Eckstein and his fellow Israeli Patriots. Richard L. Land, a permanent fixture as head of the powerful Southern Baptist Ethics and Religious Liberties Commission stated: "God made an unconditional covenant (with the present day state of Israel), and he doesn't negotiate. It's God's way or the highway." These are not just hot words from a cold pulpit; they were delivered at a June 10 press briefing at the Southern Baptist Convention at the American Center in St. Louis. They are Dr. Land's crass way of saying Palestinian families should hit the road and turn over their land to the state of Israel, because he thinks they did not get their land title from God. Dr. Land, like so many others, does not tell the Palestinians which highway to use or which desert they should march out into. His interpretation of scripture dictates that each family give up all its worldly property and leave...or die like many already have. Land continued: "SUPPORTING ISRAEL IS A MATTER OF BEING OBEDIENT TO GOD." (emphasis added) Can anyone doubt the meaning of Dr. Land's words? He has said that the state of Israel is carrying out God's work. Therefore, the secular state of Israel is the Baptist Church's proxy God. What does this make Ariel Sharon? What about the first of the Ten Commandments, THOU SHALT HAVE NO OTHER GOD BEFORE ME? When the Baptists allow Israel's Sharon to become a God icon, they accept the acts of Israel as their own. By so doing, the Southern Baptist Convention has declared itself to be a 25-million-member hate cult led by Ariel Sharon, or whoever replaces him when his acts become so hideous the world will no longer accept them. Ariel Sharon embraces the Celebrity Christians fondly as "Christian Zionists," but he makes no secret of his own heathenism. Recently Sharon told the American Congress he knows the land of Palestine was given to the Zionists because "the Pope told me so." Sharon loves to joke of those who believe in God. Whatever became of the "Christian Right"? Dr. Land provides a childish explanation which he no doubt expects every Baptist to understand from the footnotes of his Scofield or McArthur Study Bible. These are the incredible words Dr. Land has publicly proclaimed: "GOD HAS BLESSED THEM (referring to Arabs), AND HE WILL CONTINUE TO BLESS THEM EVERYWHERE BUT PALESTINE, BECAUSE GOD GAVE PALESTINE TO THE DESCENDANTS OF ISAAC FOREVER." (emphasis added) Land's logic is explained in the heretical footnotes of Oxford University Press's own dispensationalist bible, custom written in 1962 and named the Scofield Study Bible (to be discussed in detail in our next edition). The Southern Baptist Convention has apparently dropped the true and uncorrupted bible as its standard of truth; it now relies on footnotes printed in a book published by one of the most anti-Christian publishers one could find. Dr. Land quotes almost word-for-word from the Oxford bible's heretical footnotes, composed by unknown and unspecified authors 500 or more years after the King James Edition was written. The SBC interprets the ancient Hebrew scriptures found in Genesis as if they were written in 1948. The reason for this is that the Oxford Press rewrote the Baptists' favorite Bible in 1962 to accommodate the creation of the state of Israel 14 years before. In other words, a secular publisher rewrote Genesis by adding and changing hundreds of pages of interpretive footnotes, some of which recognized "Israel" as a state, and declared it a national sin not to support the Israeli government. Dr. Land wants us to believe that while God blessed both the sons of Abram, one was given land and the other none. Furthermore, he wants us to believe he has divine knowledge of which of the sons is the founder of which living tribe, and moreover he want us to believe he knows which families today are descended from each of the two sons. He gets his information from an Oxford 1962 vintage heretical bible. Of course, there is not a shred of historical or genetic evidence to support any of these assumptions. Abraham's DNA has not been found. Worst of all, based upon Dr. Land's (and Rabbi Eckstein's) interpretation of these footnotes, we are supposed to decide who lives and who dies in the Middle East. Had Oxford University Press known they could get away with it in 1962, they might have inserted a footnote about Prophet Mohammed that made him out to be a "demon-possessed pedophile." After all, Mohammed was born well before 1962, so why not put him in too? The SBC's outrageously racist words make this writer personally ashamed to have once been a Baptist Deacon. Drs. Graham, Vine and Land and many others all clearly tell us they are prepared to commit genocide on the Palestinian people, members of the Arab race. Perhaps it is less painful to watch them die if their Prophet is considered a pedophile and a devil. Dr. Land wills that the Arabs should leave. He makes no concession for the Christian Arabs in Palestine, which includes some of my own friends who live in Gaza and attend the Baptist Church there. Land says they must hit the "highway" because God gave the land they live on to someone called Jacob who fathered a different tribe. Thus, on account of their race, they must die or starve, even if they are Baptists. How racist can you get? Does this also apply to Arab Jews in Gaza, of whom there are quite a few, I'm sure? Not a single Israeli of any religion can prove himself to be in direct lineage to someone three thousand years ago. This is also true of the rest of us, no matter how tidy the family records. Yale University geneticist Mazim Qumseyeh has told We Hold These Truths that the DNA evidence is not available and that the Arab Palestinian is genetically similar to the Arab Jew. In Gaza City, the Baptist church is located between the Library of Culture and Light and the Islamic Center on Omar Mukhter Boulevard. There I met and interviewed three Christian Arab members who consider themselves Baptists. Some of them have already been bombed by the Israelis. One, who asked that I not use his name, (Mr. J.) had to find a new school for his two boys because the Israelis had bombed their school into rubble a few days before I arrived. They used American-made F-16s and 500-pound American Smart Bombs. Dr. Land and his allies would, of course, approve of this raid, because they believe the Israelis are of Jacob's seed and the Arabs are of Ishmael's. But they have no shred of evidence for either belief, except in the footnotes of the Oxford Bible and its several prosperous imitators. Does Dr. Land have a special "dispensation' to protect Mr. J' s children when the rest of the Arabs have to hit the "highway?" Does he really believe Israelis from Russia should occupy Mr. J's land that his family has owned for hundreds of years? Box 14491 Scottsdale, AZ 85267 480 947 3329 Would you like to support our work? According to a front page story in the July 1, 2003 issue of "Haaretz," one of Israel's leading newspapers, U. S. President George W. Bush told an Arab meeting on June 24th that GOD TOLD HIM TO BOMB IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN. The President was there to bring pressure on Arab Palestinian leaders to accept his "Road To Peace" program. Palestinian Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas, who supports the Bush plan, quotes the President as saying he is fully committed to a solution based on his "Vision" speech on June 24, 2002, and is ready to move forward "...if there is help on your (Arab leaders') part." Abbas further quotes Bush as saying: "GOD TOLD ME TO STRIKE AT AL QAIDA AND I STRUCK THEM," "AND THEN HE INSTRUCTED ME TO STRIKE AT SADDAM, WHICH I DID," "AND NOW I AM DETERMINED TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM IN THE MIDDLE EAST. IF YOU HELP ME I WILL ACT, AND IF NOT, THE ELECTIONS WILL COME AND I WILL HAVE TO FOCUS ON THEM." - end Bush quote President Bush's words are a war threat to the Palestinians. He is telling them he is the god of war and if he chooses he can bomb Gaza City as he has nuked Baghdad. This is the unmistakable message of his words, and it is clearly passed along by Abbas and Haaretz, in case any shivering Palestinian children failed to understand it. We now have a President who claims he prays to Jesus Christ and that God tells him whom to bomb and with whom to make peace. Further, Bush's Plan was written by others, and since presidential speeches are professionally pre-written, it now appears the speech writers are also enabled to invoking God. It appears Mr. Bush has his own different answer to the bumper sticker question, "WHO WOULD JESUS BOMB?" Bush says; "whoever I wish." Did President Bush really utter these blasphemous words, or is this report, from a private conference, something Mr. Abbas made up and Haaretz joyfully reported? It does not matter if the President is quoted correctly. His message has a purpose and will be carried back to the Judeo- Christian churches of America. There lies his support base. Its leaders are his apologists and ENABLERS in serial warmaking. There he will be exalted for lifting up God's name in favor of war. The self-proclaimed Zionist-Christian leaders who support Mr. Bush by inference from 10s of thousands of pulpits and radio platforms want to believe this is God's war because they know it is Israel's war. Ariel Sharon tells them over and over again they are together in this war against Islam. The substance of Mr. Bush's war support is found beneath an imaginary Israel-is-God totem pole that stands unseen over almost every evangelical church, and in the anti-Islamic message of war that is preached in most media programs. Project Strait Gate even found one church holding services under a giant Israeli flag.

Back Zionism is a theory of ethnic cleansing and racism By Na'eem Jeenah, The Mail&Guardian, 20 August 2001 Zionism is not merely the statement of nationalism but, in its conception and execution, a form of western colonialism that views Palestinians as an inferior people and treats them as disposable Apartheid South Africa and Israel caused the main discussions in the previous two world anti-racism conferences - 1978 and 1983.

People of Conscience Will Not Be Silent as the Death Toll Rises By Charles A Beers Al-Jazeerah, September 14, 2004 "To be silent now is to be complicit with evil itself." Bush and Rumsfeld have made it chillingly clear that they do not care how many human lives are extinguished in their quest to conquer Iraq and the resources of the Middle East. The death toll in Iraq is climbing and it is climbing rapidly. Hundreds of Iraqis have been killed in heavy fighting in the last 72-hours alone adding to the staggering number of 37,000 Iraqis who have already been killed by the U.S. invasion (according to a recently released detailed study carried out across the cities and villages of Iraq documenting deaths between March 2003 and October 2003). The number of U.S. soldiers killed has now passed the 1,000 mark. As the White House and Pentagon brass order new deadly assaults to break the back of those resisting the occupation, the heavy-handed military tactics only result in the opposite outcome. The U.S. is bombing homes, killing families, laying siege to neighborhoods, and shooting Iraqis day in and day out on their own streets, in their own land. The intensity and breadth of the resistance is dramatically increasing and it is gathering ever-new support, energy and recruits from the Iraqi population who are repelled by the tactics ordered by Rumsfeld and Bush. Rumsfeld boasts that as many 2,500 Iraqis have been killed in the last month. Rumsfeld arrogantly believes that his "Iraqi body count" braggadocio can conceal that the administration’s strategy in Iraq is badly failing. Attacks on U.S. forces "rose to 2,700 in August, from 700 in March" (NY Times September 8.) The parallels with Vietnam become more haunting every day. As more than 1,000 US soldiers have now been killed in Iraq, the number of wounded, many maimed with horrible and permanent injuries, spirals every day. The official Pentagon count is over 7,000. Who knows the real number? "About 1,100 U.S. soldiers and marines were wounded in Iraq during August, by far the highest combat injury toll for any month since the war began and an indication of the intensity of battles flaring in urban areas," reports the Washington Post on September 5. The Post also reports a huge increase in the number of life-altering brain injuries to U.S. troops. More and more people in this country are angry and they should be. They were lied to by the President. In spite of mass antiwar sentiment, the Democrats and Congress gave Bush a blank check to go to war when they voted overwhelmingly on October 12, 2002 to illegally hand over their constitutionally mandated authority to Bush so that he could pursue the war against Iraq. When thousands of people are being killed in Iraq and elsewhere the people must act, as they did during the Vietnam era, making it clear that they cannot be silent in the face of U.S. government atrocities. The politicians have to feel the heat. We don’t need to beg them, appeal to them or politely urge them to end this criminal endeavor. We have to tell them! It is the pressure from the people that can and will bring an end to this war and future ones like it. First off why are you listening to the words of a "Christian" conservative. When will Americans open their bible, read that the greatest thing you can do is to help your fellow man-to give to the poor. I have a hard time seeing Jesus being a conservative, living in a big house, and refusing to help others in need. Christians are being used by the right to win elections and continue to hoard their greedy coffers. America is built on the labor of Americans, not the bankers and corporate CEO's who with a straight face, claim they are Christians or "born again". Especially when they start to seek office as a Republican. Wake up Christians and see that you are being used. Take care of your fellow man if you want to ensure you are doing God's work. Make an example and other countries like Israel will see your compassion and want to be like us-including other countries in the middle east. That way you don't have to bomb them and kill them. Anti-abortation Pro War. Anything wrong with that thinking as a Christian?

Increasingly the truth is coming out. The work of Zionist of all stripes, Christian, Muslims and Jews is becoming apparent in all of the monotheist faiths. The challenge is to hold ISrael to the same standards that it demands for itself. If the same were done here in the US, we would all be branded "anti-Semites" yet in Israel, the worse type of religious fanaticism, and extremism is tolerated against other faiths. The double standard is a sign of Israel's claim to supremacy, and superiority above all other belief systems. The only way to end it, is through the law. The international laws that protect religious freedom must be enforced. Israeli "exceptionalism" must be challenged on all levels if we are to have justice in world, and fairness, and rule of law.

I seriously doubt that Israelie leaders are trying to "keep this under wraps". They certainly have no interest in alowing Christian evagelism in their own midst as it is offensive to citizens of the Jewish state--created to preserve what is left of world Jewry. The citizenry would accept nothing less. Nor are they in a hurry to alow or promote Christian evangelism to muslim majority of Palestinians under their juristiction as it would incite a RIOT! The small Christian minority are assumed to be content with their own traditional practices. Thus the only question that remains is why a bunch of American Evangelical CHristinas --most of whom no doubt have little knowledge of these other peoples and religious traditions--are so hell bent in inciting a tinderbox in an already very unstable region? Perhaps you would do better to look inwards and ask why you are so unhappy in your own skins that you need to embark on a new crusade which at this time could only have disasterous results. Start with your own record! Do you perform the traditional works of mercy as opposed to those of war? If you have money to burn--arn't there numerous soup kitchens, programs to council the imprisoned and literacy campaigns in your own area that could use the help? Your whole problem is that you are not happy in a cosmopolitan society where your right to worship as you beleive go'es hand in hand with everyone elses right to their traditions without harassment. If you so despertely need a purpose then feed the hungry, care for the sick, visit the imprisoned, and aid the poor--perhaps by that example alone will people see what your faith realy is--when put into action!!!

American Christians who hate Palestinian Christians The Palestinian Christian is an endangered species. When the modern state of Israel was established there were about 400000 of us. Two years ago the number was down to 80000. Now it’s down to 60000. At that rate, in a few years there will be none of us left. When this happens non Christian groups will move into our churches and claim them for ever. I FEAR THAT WHEN/IF THE LAST PALESTINIAN CHRISTIAN LEAVES EXTREME GROUPS WILL MOVE INSTANTLY TO OUR CHURCHES AND SCHOOLS AND HAVE A FIELD DAY HATCHING WORLD PLOTS. IT WOULD BE TOO LATE FOR BUSH (OR KERRY) TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT !! Palestinian Christians within Israel fare little better. On the face of it, their number has grown by 20000 since 1991. But this is misleading, for the census classification ‘Christian’ includes some 20000 recent non-Arab migrants from the former Soviet Union. So why are Palestinian Christians abandoning their homeland? We have lost hope, that’s why. We are treated as non-people. Few outside the Middle East even know we exist, and those who do, conveniently forget. I refer, of course, to the American Religious Right. They see the modern Israel as a harbinger of the Second Coming, at which time Christians will go to Paradise, and all others (presumably including Jews) to Hell. To this end they lend military and moral support to Israel. Even by the double-dealing standards of international diplomacy this is a breathtakingly cynical bargain. It is hard to know who is using whom more: the Christian Right for offering secular power in the expectation that the Jewish state will be destroyed by a greater spiritual one; or the Israeli Right for accepting their offer. What we do know is that both sides are abusing the Palestinians. Apparently we don’t enter into anyone’s calculations. The views of the Israeli Right, and extremists affiliated with other religions, are well known: they want us gone. Less well known are the views of the American Religious Right. Strangely, they find the liberation of Iraqis from a vile dictator just, but do not find it unjust for us to be under military occupation for 38 long years. Said Senator James Inhofe (R-Oklahoma): ‘God Appeared to Abraham and said: “I am giving you this land,”the West Bank. This is not a political battle at all. It is a contest over whether or not the word of God is true.’ House Majority Leader Dick Armey (R-Texas) was even more forthright: ’I'm content to have Israel grab the entire West Bank… I happen to believe that the Palestinians should leave.’ There is a phrase for this. Ethnic cleansing. So why do American Christians stand by while their leaders advocate the expulsion of fellow Christians? Could it be that they do not know that the Holy Land has been a home to Christians since, well… since Christ? Do not think I am asking for special treatment for Christians. Ethnic cleansing is evil whoever does it and to whomever it is done. Palestinian Christians: Anglican, Maronite Catholics, Orthodox, Lutherans, Armenians, Baptists, Copts and Assyrians have been rubbing shoulders with each other and with other religions: Muslims, Jews, Druze and (most recently) Baha’is for centuries. We want to do so for centuries more. But we can’t if we are driven out by despair. We are equally frightened by those who commit suicide bombings.None of us Christians have condoned it or even contemplated the idea. Our commitment to Jesus teachings will never shake our resolve in this matter. What we seek is support: material, moral, political and spiritual. As Palestinians we grieve for what we have lost, and few people (the Ashkenazi Jews are one) have lost more than us. But grief can be assuaged by the fellowship of friends.

Professor Churchill's http://www.colorado.edu/news/reports/churchill Ward Churchill and the 9/11 Essay http://www.colorado.edu/news/reports/churchill The University Responds to Controversy Over His Comments Ward Churchill's comments on the 9/11 attacks have sparked fierce debate on academic freedom and tenure, the core tenets of every institution of higher education.Churchill, a professor in the department of Ethnic Studies, resigned as chair of the department Jan. 31 following national publicity surrounding his essay. At a special meeting of the Board of Regents Feb. 3, the regents accepted CU-Boulder Chancellor Phil DiStefano's proposal for a 30-day internal review to determine if Churchill overstepped his bounds as a faculty member, showing cause for dismissal as outlined in the Laws of the Regents. The chancellor has stated unequivocally that Professor Churchill's views are his own and do not represent the views of University of Colorado faculty, staff, students, the administration or the regents. With over 30,000 students, 3,500 faculty, and 150 fields of study, CU-Boulder has been recognized as one of the nation's top public research universities. But some observers have difficulty separating Churchill's comments from the diverse perspectives that make a great university. The dialog is a difficult and important one for CU and every college and university in the nation. We invite you to return to this site for updates on this important issue. The 30-Day Internal Review of Professor Churchill's Work Remarks by Chancellor Phil DiStefano at the CU Board Of Regents Special Meeting http://www.colorado.edu/news/reports/churchill Support the Struggle to Free Lynne Stewart February 17th Community Church of New York (Hall of Worship) 40 East 35th Street New York, NY 10016 (between Park & Madison) #6 Train to 33rd St. From 7 pm - 9:30 pm Hear from Lynne, members of her legal team, NLG members, others for a Culmination of the Guild's National Day of Outrage following the verdict in Lynne Stewart's case. On February 10, the well-known civil rights fighter and defense attorney attorney Lynne Stewart became the latest victim of the Bush Administration's assault on human rights, an assault that has given us the Patriot Act and the torture chambers of Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo. Lynne was targeted by former Attorney General John Aschcroft because of her determined defense of Muslim cleric Omar Abdel Rahman, and because of her long career as a figher for justice. Stewart's indictment in April 2002 was announced by Attorney General Ashcroft himself on the David Letterman show. It was the first time that the federal government prosecuted a defense attorney in a terrorism case. This is part of a pattern of behavior by this administration that includes illegal detentions, denial of access to attorneys, and torture. The Administration claims the right to incarcerate anyone without notifying them of the charges against them, all under the pretext of "fighting terrorism." Now it wants to make it a crime to offer legal assistance to anyone targeted by the Administration. It is imperative that we fight back against this obvious attempt by the U.S. government to silence dissent and install fear in those who would fight against the U.S. government's racism, seek to help Arabs and Muslims being prosecuted for free speech and defend the rights of all oppressed people. The National Lawyer's Guild has called for a National Day of Outrage on Thursday, February 16 in response to the guilty verdict. The International Action Center supports this call and is asking activists across the country to organize or participate in protests, press conferences, and other activities. Lynne Stewart has vowed to continue the struggle. In a recent interview with Democracy ow, she said, "We intend to keep on fighting, to speak out, to organize, to bring this to people and to ask people to come with us on this. Of course at this date, we have no concrete plan, but we know that that is what’s important, to speak out and not to be afraid and to stand up for what is right." She is scheduled to speak at the March 19 Troops Out Now regional demonstration in Central Park. contribute to Lynne Stewart's Defense Fund

My Gods will be done and not our own, of ourselves we are nothing,
we are clay in the potters hand, we are his workmanship and not our own. Every man has been given A MEASURE of faith and Christ Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith and that not a faith of our own. Apstle Paul came niether praying nor repenting on the road to Damascus, qiute the contrary he was on his way to persucute and condemn Christian gatherings when the Lord struck him down in the spirit, this was not done by Pauls free will, it was our Lords will. God wills that all men should be saved, that all men shall bear testimony in due time, each man in his order, this was the due time in the will of God to drag Saul up, the chosen time for Saul of Tarsus to become Apostle Paul.

There is nothing new that is new under the Sun, Israel resides under the same sun as all other Nations, we are all under the same Sun. When Jesus himself taught the Jews about the gospel few excepted him, many denied him, there is nothing NEW about that, for indeed scripture declares that what has been so shall it be.

"Christians" in affluent countries are to blame. "This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me." They say they are Christians but reject the teachings of Christ by doing exactly what the pharasees do in the Talmud. They rationalize the truth out of God's Commandments given through Jesus, just as is stated by Christ in Mark 7. "Christians" justify contradicting the non-violent teachings of Love and forgiveness by rationalization, like a slick lawyer. Those TV preachers are just speaking the lies that hypocrites want to hear. The rich western nations of the world are completely infected with all kinds of hypocracy. We 'are' the Laodicians.

The following is a copy of an email that I just sent to Ms. Doris Newcomb at WFAX concerning the decision to 'gag' Dale Crowley .. and dump his show.

Dear Ms. Newcomb

Since I live up here in Alaska, I sometimes get a little behind on my current events, but when I heard what happened down there at your radio station concerning Dale Crowley's radio show, I simply had to write.

Honestly, I really don't know what to say to you. I was going to say how disappointed I am in your decision concerning this issue. I was going to point out scriptural examples of Christ's condemnation of the corrupt leadership of Israel in His day, constantly referring to their hypocrisy and referring to them as liars and telling them that their father was the chief liar, indicating that they took after satan their (spiritual) father. While I'm make no claim to be a theologian, (although I've been a student of the scripture for the last 20 or so years) I believe that it was only a couple of weeks after His righteous wrath was turned on the 'money changers' (bankers) in the Temple who were pillaging the faithful Jews attempting to keep the laws, that He ended up on the cross.

I will not waste your time (or mine) attempting to convince you of the corruption in the Israeli Government ( not to mention our own ! ) because I believe that if you cannot see it all around you then it must be because you truly choose not to.

I will not attempt to argue that you have a moral obligation to stand up for the truth, which includes the systematic persecution of thousands of Palestinian Christians, your brothers and sisters Ms. Newcomb, because I don't believe that you reached your decision based on a lack of moral awareness.

And finally Ms. Newcomb, I will not attempt to convince you that this decision will, one more time, extinguish the light shone on the darkness, which (as I understand the book) is our job until such time as our Redeemer returns.

No Ms. Newcomb, I will not make any of these arguments, and the reason I will not, is because I believe that that the over riding factor in this situation was the oldest one in the book.

I am aware that your family has been involved with this radio station for many years, and has no doubt been responsible for spreading the gospel to many people over the years. That is the very reason that I am so saddened by this decision which I believe was arrived at as a result of the importance of the 'Almighty Dollar' over the dictates of 'Almighty God'.

If it has come down to an issue of caving in to the business community, or the powerful Israeli lobby in Washington, then please Ms. Newcomb, sell the station and let some investors put Howard Stern on, or let Clear Channel take it so they can parrot the government propaganda, at least that way the people will not expect the truth from WFAX.

I know that his decision was not an easy one for you to make, and I really do have an abiding respect for your work over the years, but I would be remiss if I didn't point out that this decision at this point in time, will cancel out the work of many people who have risked much, and some who risked all, to bring the truth to those who seek it in a world where truth is in very short supply.

My prayer for you is that The Holy Spirit will convict you in your spirit, and that you will reconsider your decision to give in to this pressure.

Respectfully

William G Adams

It does not surpise me that Israel has taken this stance against Christianity. I have spent a great deal of time in the Holy Land and have perceived that Christianity was hovering on the border of tolerance. Not for merely cultural reasons, there are many diverse cultures existing in Israel at this moment and not all off them are Jewish. Christianity makes them feel uncomfortable, they do not know how to react to Christs message and consequently have come up with a knee jerk reaction that seems to wrap it all up with a nice lace bow on top, this, in my opinion is nothing but a facade. What surpised me the most was the neo-liberal Christian attitude towards this new law. Once again they have forgotten that the fight is not against flesh and blood, nor law and regulations but against spiritual skulduggery in high places. These Christians are simply dancing to the tune of the Evil one and missing the point completely.
