Todd Dennis - Matthew 16:27-28 is NOT a "Preterist Time Indicator" pointing to AD70

Warning: "Full Preterist" material is being archived for balanced representation of all Christian Preterist views, but its premise is deemed by the opinion of the curator (a former full preterist) to be "toxic theology."   Due to its brash and "letter-based" appeal  to the flesh and "things seen," it very subtly draws people away from the truth of the Spirit and His "unseen things" (core components of the system being extra-biblical history and logic -- because there is not one full preterist verse which looks back to fulfillment in ad70, it is based entirely upon deductive reasoning).  If you have already adopted this viewpoint, please seriously consider that according to full preterism, AD70 was not only the end of Old Testament Judaism, but it was also the end of the revelation of Christianity as seen in the New Testament.  This is done by teaching that AD70 was a "dispensational line" regarding resurrection and the like which makes the Christianity of the New Testament fundamentally different from that of today.  Please also note that the earliest known adherents of full preterism later abandoned it, as have many contemporary former full preterists, including the curator of this archive (after a decade of promotion).  The article which follows is deemed "hyper preterist" in nature -- so please proceed with extreme caution.  If this article is not "full preterist," please notify me and I will have it reclassified.

Behind The Veil of Moses

Looking Past the Shadow of the Old Covenant, to Find the Substance of the New Covenant And the Nature of the Second Coming

BY
Brian L. Martin

Therefore, since we have such hope, we use great boldness of speech - unlike Moses, who put a veil over his face so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the end of what was passing away. But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ. But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart. Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.  2 Cor 3:12-16

The Veil of Moses Project: Removing The Veil in Christ

We are dedicated to promoting the Biblical principle that the Old Testament can only be rightly interpreted by starting with the inspired authors of the New Testament. The fullness of God's redemptive plan was not revealed in the Old Testament, but was hidden by types and shadows:

For the law, having a shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of these things . . . Hebrews 10:1

Those mysteries which were only partially understood by the types and shadows of the Old Covenant, were fully revealed to the New Testament apostles and prophets:

. . . how that by revelation He made known to me the mystery (as I have briefly written already, by which, when you read, you may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ), which in other ages was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to His holy apostles and prophets . . . Ephesians 3:3-5

When we allow the inspired authors of the New Testament to be our starting point for interpreting Old Testament passages, then we are truly allowing Scripture to interpret Scripture. When we apply this principle to the nature of the New Covenant, and to the Second Coming of Christ, we often find that current teachings on these topics are not in agreement with the New Testament authors.

These issues are explored in the newly released book:

Behind The Veil of Moses

Looking Past the Shadow of the Old Covenant,
to find the Substance of the New Covenant
and the Nature of the Second Coming.

What others are saying about

 Behind The Veil of Moses:

I have read most of what’s available, and Behind The Veil of Moses presents several points that are new to me. It also presents several familiar points from a new perspective.

Garrett Brown, sponsor of the 1993 Mt. Dora, Florida symposium on Covenant Eschatology. R. C. Sproul’s The Last Days According To Jesus, is dedicated to Garrett.

I am finding it very clear and logical and helpful. [The] chapters show the spirituality of the New Covenant over against a dispensationalist, physical Israel view; and that this leads naturally into re-examining the way in which we should view the 2nd coming passages in the Bible. The scriptural and logical way you have gone about things is a great way of introducing the preterist view of the 2nd coming of the Lord, and I would certainly recommend it as very helpful to any Christians wanting to find their way through the dispensational confusion that so affects many Christians, and to get a solid base for examining the preterist view of eschatology.

Ian Harding, Author – Taken To Heaven In AD 70

Finally! A book that not only explains what I believe and why I believe it, but also one which I will feel comfortable giving to others. Its non confrontational approach and copious use of Scriptures are destined to make many reconsider their views on Bible prophecy.

Bill Greene, layperson and preterist advocate

Behind The Veil of Moses is THE book I've been waiting for! I've been looking for a book to give to family and friends to share my understanding (Preterism) of the Bible and your book is just the ticket. As an added bonus, you present some insights that are wonderful new gems of knowledge I haven't encountered previously. Easily understandable and wide in scope, it’s a treasure of a book. – Sharon Nichols, Texas

I could not agree more with the previous contributor, Sharon Nichols. While there is a growing wealth of resources for the preterist interpretation of Scripture, (this web site to mention one in particular), Brian Martin’s book is a work by a layperson, for lay people, and deserves a place in the library of every serious Bible student, preterist or not. A second edition of this book should be printed in hardback and be re-titled simply “The Preterist Handbook”. Good job, Mr. Martin! And may God richly bless you. This is truly a wonderful resource.

Your website speaks of mysteries and talks about the veil of Moses being removed. It is important to know that scripture plainly states what the mysteries are. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ChristianityUnderFire/messages They were a mystery to folks in the OT and even into the gospels. One need only pick up a strongs concordance and look up 'mystery' and 'mysteries' They will notice a few things: 1) The apostle Paul brought out these mysteries in a clear fashion, unlike his predecessors. (Colossians 1:25-27) 2) The mysteries involved some kind of union: God and flesh (1 Timothy 3:16) Jew and Gentile (Romans 11:25-27) Christ and the Church (Ephesians 5) Husband and Wife? (Ephesians 5) Christ in us (Colossians 1:27) I see no evidence of a Preterist message in these scriptures. One of the mysteries is the temporary and partial blindness of Israel, while the fulness of the Gentiles come in (Romans 11:25-27), These scriptures plainly say that this is not permanent. The Preterist has concluded that Israel has blown it and that is the end of the story for them. However, in the end we will see a completion of the prophetic program for Israel. This article also says, "At the end of Acts 1, just prior to Pentecost, the apostles cast lots to find a replacement for Judas, to be numbered among the twelve. This seems to be such an unspiritual solution for such a weighty matter. Perhaps this is why, after being chosen by the lot to be numbered with the other eleven apostles, Matthias is never mentioned again. Paul, on the other hand, is stated as being an apostle no less than nine times. Christ Himself didn't choose the original twelve apostles (disciples) until after spending a night in prayer:" bj:This misses an important distinction and that is despite Mathias never being mentioned again, the scripture doesn't say that they made a mistake in choosing Mathias. The reason I bring up what might seem like a trivial point is because it really isn't. Paul was not to be one of the twelve. The twelve were to the circumcision and Paul was an apostle to the Gentiles. (Galatians 2:7-10) Paul, understood the mysteries and none of them had anything to do with a permanent setting aside of Israel but Christ and how He affected everything he touched. (Romans 11:25-27) The ultimate mystery was the fact that Christ was two made One. In other words He was God in the flesh. (1 Timothy 3:16) This affected our relationship with him, our relationship with Israel, our relationship with our spouse. All of these relationships involves at least two becoming One. http://geocities.com/protestantscot/ttd/ttd_chap1.html

I love this book! It is well documented with scripture, scripture, scripture and more scripture without twisting any of it to fit a preconceived idea or theology. I've ordered multiple copies to hand out to friends. Like a previous review states, it is written for lay people... like me! I highly recommend this wonderful book. Laurie, Livermore, CA

I haven't read the book yet, but the website is the strangest I've ever seen (see for yourself by following the link given). The whole site is nothing but advertisements for ringtones and ski vacations in Colorado! What's the deal?
