"When it comes to Bible prophecy, the preterist view takes a back seat in favor of the more popular pre-tribulation rapture view. Most preterist books are either self-published or produced by small and independent publishers that do not have the marketing muscle to effectively promote the view.   However, Baker Book House, one of the top four Christian publishers, has just released a preterist title by theologian and author R.C. Sproul. "The Last Days According to Jesus," is Sproul's latest book where he takes a position know as the "partial preterist" view.

     In general, preterists believe that prophetic events in the Bible were fulfilled with Christ's first coming and the destruction of Jerusalem in A.D. 70. Full preterists believe all prophetic events were fulfilled at this time. According to Sproul, partial preterists believe:

"While partial preterists acknowledge that in the destruction of Jerusalem in A.D. 70 there was "a" parousia or coming of Christ, they maintain that it was not "the" parousia... Partial preterists understand that there are nuances to biblical terminology regarding the coming of Christ and the day of the Lord, nuances that make it possible and necessary to speak of more than one event that encompasses all these things at once."
